The Arkley CenterThe Arkley Center was built in 1920 as the Sweasey, then later Loew, State Theater. The State Theater was a showcase first for live vaudeville, followed by "talking" movies. Fire damaged the building in 1929 and again in 1943, but the theater was rebuilt and remained a venue until 1973, when it was sold to the Daly family and became a department store. In 1995 the Daly Store closed its doors, and the theater remained vacant for nearly a decade. Cherie and Rob Arkley purchased the theater in 2003, and hired Kramer Properties to restore it as an acoustically vibrant and attractive venue space. It now seats nearly 700 - and every seat in the house offers a fine listening experience.
LocaleThe Arkley Center is located at the edge of Old Town Eureka. Antique and vintage shops, art and clothing boutiques, music stores, fine dining & chocolatiers, and several museums are located within easy walking distance, in addition to the Eureka Waterfront and marinas.
